Is It Possible to Export a Chart as an Excel File?

With the Excel Export feature, you can quickly and easily download data tables as .xlsx files.

Answer

Yes, this is possible, but only for charts of the Data Table type. The Excel Export menu option appears only in these chart types, allowing you to download exactly the data currently displayed as an Excel file. The export includes the Date Range and Dashboard Currency you have set. The file name is generated automatically and contains the chart title as well as a timestamp. For other chart types, such as line or bar charts, Excel export is not available.

Accessing the Function

You can find the export function directly in the dashboard area. To access it, go to the Main Menu and select the Dashboards area. Open the desired dashboard and select the relevant Data Table chart. Then, click on Excel Export in the chart menu to download the data as an Excel file.

Settings & Options

When exporting, the currently set Date Range is automatically applied. All values are shown in the Dashboard Currency selected for your dashboard. The column headers in the Excel file will match your user interface language.

Limitations & Special Notes

  • You can only use Excel Export when you have opened a Data Table chart.
  • In AMC Dashboards, Excel export is generally not available.
  • If the chart is still loading, you will see a notification. In this case, please wait until all data has fully loaded before trying the export again.
  • For very large tables, the export may take a moment. The downloaded file will be named: [Chart Title] (YYYY-MM-DD-HH-mm).xlsx.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Before exporting, make sure you select the appropriate Date Range to ensure you only get the relevant data.
  • Also check if the Dashboard Currency is set correctly and values are in your preferred format.
  • Giving your chart a clear, meaningful name will help you identify exported files later, as this name is included in the file name automatically.
  • Use filters to narrow down large data tables to the most important values before exporting.
  • If you make changes beforehand, wait until the chart has fully loaded before starting the Excel Export to ensure all current data is included.
