Overview
A Share of Voice (SOV) Schedule lets you set rules for campaigns that respond flexibly to changes in “Search Position (Share of Voice).” For example, you can automatically boost or pause campaigns if there is a drop in visibility to ensure you secure important placements. You select an SOV keyword list, define the desired actions, and specify which marketplaces and campaigns should be affected. The goal: your campaigns work more efficiently and react to changes automatically, saving you from manual intervention.
Accessing the Function
To create a new SOV Schedule, go to Management > Schedule in the main menu. There, click the Add Schedule button to set up a new schedule.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Create a Schedule
First, in Management > Schedule, click Add Schedule. In the setup dialog, enter a freely chosen Schedule Name for your timeline. For Schedule Based On, select Metrics – this is required to create an SOV-based schedule.
Step 2: Select Marketplace
Next, choose the desired marketplace in the Marketplace field where this schedule should apply. For SOV schedules, only one marketplace can be set per schedule. If you want to cover multiple marketplaces, you'll need to create a separate schedule for each one.
Step 3: Select Performance KPI SOV
Now select the performance KPI and a sub-KPI (Sub Performance KPI). Choose Search Position (Share of Voice) as the KPI. Then, with the sub-KPI, specify whether your rule should apply to the Organic Position (unpaid results) or the Paid Position (paid placement).
If SOV is not yet activated for your account, this selection will be disabled. In this case, please contact support.
Step 4: Choose SOV Keyword List
Next, connect your schedule to an existing SOV keyword list by selecting the desired SOV keyword list in the Please Select field. You cannot save the schedule without a keyword list. If you do not have a list yet, you will need to create one first. You can find out how to do this here.
Step 5: Define Target Objects
Now, check the Apply To field. For SOV schedules based on performance, Campaigns is set as the default target and should remain this way. On the next page, you can further narrow down your campaign selection to specify which campaigns the schedule will act on.
Step 6: Define Actions per Position Range
In the last section, set up what should happen automatically for specific position ranges. Use + Add Step to add one or more ranges, for example, 1–200 and 201–5000 (depending on the visibility you want). For each range, select the appropriate Action from the dropdown menu:
- Enable: Activates campaigns in the specified range.
- Pause: Pauses all affected campaigns.
- No Change: Keeps the campaigns in their current status.
- Boost Keywords: Increases (positive values) or decreases (negative values) keyword bids. This is especially useful if you want to react directly to drops in position.
You can define different actions for each range and use + Add Step to divide the ranges as needed, for example:
Position 1–100: Keep > Position 101–200: Boost Keywords by +20% > Position 201–5000: Pause
Remember, particularly with performance SOV, the combination of Enable, Pause, and targeted Boost Keywords offers powerful tools to manage visibility or save budget.
Step 7: Review and Save
Review all settings and make sure that the ranges and actions are set correctly. If everything is set up as desired, save your schedule. Successful creation will be confirmed with "Schedule was created successfully!"
Tip: You can use the Back button anytime between steps if you need to make changes.
Settings & Options
- Schedule Folder: If you need to organize multiple schedules, create folders as required. The Create New Folder function does not affect execution but helps you keep everything organized.
Limitations & Special Notes
- The "Search Position (Share of Voice)" option is only available if SOV is already activated for your account and at least one SOV keyword list has been created.
- Only one marketplace can be selected per performance SOV schedule.
- The schedule logic runs regularly in the background. If many campaigns are affected, there may be short delays.
Tips & Best Practices
- Keep your SOV keyword lists up to date and adjust them when your product portfolio changes – they are the central basis for effective automation.
- Define a clear purpose for each schedule: for example, you can automatically offset a loss in visibility by running "Boost Keywords" for worsening paid positions.
- Test new rules and ideas on a single marketplace first to avoid misconfigurations. Once you find a positive setup, apply it to more schedules and marketplaces.
