Overview

The dashboard offers you various chart types – called "elements" – to visualize your data. Choose from classic visualizations like Line Chart, Bar Chart, Donut Chart, Scorecard, Textbox, Funnel Chart, Word Cloud, and Table. The AMC dashboard also provides special chart and analysis types such as Attribution by Ad Type or Customer Journey | Path to Conversion. This way, you have the right tool for every analysis purpose.

Accessing the Function

You can access chart creation via the main menu under Dashboard. To add a new element, select Add Element. This opens the editor, where you can choose the chart type and configure all settings.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Add Element

Select the dashboard where you want to add a chart and click Add Element to launch the editor. Here you choose the desired chart type from a list. You can find options such as:

  • Line Chart: Best for showing trends and developments over time. Select a metric and a dimension (e.g., revenue over daily intervals).
  • Bar Chart: Ideal for comparing categories or KPIs, such as displaying four key metrics by product group. Select one to four metrics and one grouping dimension.
  • Donut Chart: Visualizes shares and compositions (for example, market shares by sales channel). You can choose one metric and one dimension.
  • Scorecard: Compact representation of a single key figure, optionally with a mini trend (line chart).
  • Textbox: Allows you to embed titles or explanatory text directly in the dashboard.
  • Funnel Chart: Shows the steps of a process or funnel with drop-offs (e.g., from click to order).
  • Word Cloud: Highlights frequent keywords or tags, with font size showing frequency.
  • Table: Lists KPIs side by side and enables comparison modes (e.g., time series or year-on-year comparisons).

Depending on the chart type, you can further refine your choice: with Bar Chart, select vertical or horizontal orientation; with Scorecard, opt for a simple display or mini trend; with Textbox, choose between title and body text.

Step 2: Select Data Source and Time Range

Determine the basis for your visualization. Set the Date Range and Time Unit (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly). If needed, also select the Data Type (such as Paid, Organic, or Total).

In some cases, the system will require you to select a marketplace before data can be loaded (“Please select marketplace first”).

Step 3: Configure X and Y Axes

Define which data should appear in your chart. Use Grouping (x-axis) to select a category (such as time, marketplace, campaign, products, tags). Under Values (y-axis), specify the KPIs (such as ACoS, Clicks, ROAS, Ad Sales). If you want to display multiple KPIs in the same chart, enable the option Show all KPIs at once.

Donut-Specifics – Controlling Shares

In the Donut Chart, you control how shares are sorted and displayed. With Sort by value, set the order of the largest segments. With Enable limitation and Max., define how many top segments to show; the rest will be grouped into “Other”. You can also choose to show or hide “Other”. Without limitation, all segments will be shown.

Table Comparison – Comparing Time Periods

Tables offer special comparison modes:

  • No Comparison: Shows the current period.
  • Comparison to Previous Period: Compare with the previous period (e.g., last week).
  • Comparison to Previous Year: Compare with the same period last year, ideal for seasonal analysis.

The detail of comparison changes depending on the selected Time Unit.

Settings & Options

Via the Dashboard Settings in the action bar, you can customize your dashboard’s name and display options. In Manage Templates, you can save and load complete dashboard layouts as templates. With Insert Default Data, you can add starter elements. Share Dashboards lets you define which users or clients can access your dashboard.

Limitations & Special Notes

  • Without editing rights, adding or saving elements is disabled.
  • In the AMC dashboard, you cannot create your own charts; only the predefined visualizations are available.
  • For some data sources, you must select a valid marketplace first.
  • Changes and filters only become visible after you click Load Data.
  • If filters are missing or the time range is not covered, “No data available!” will appear.
  • Very complex charts or multiple parallel displays can increase dashboard loading time.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Start with Line Chart or Bar Chart to clearly visualize trends.
  • Use orientation options in Bar Chart (vertical/horizontal) for better readability with long category names.
  • In Donut Chart, limiting the number of segments and using “Other” improves readability.
  • Set Target Values to show benchmarks in the chart.
  • Always click Load Data to check your settings before saving.
  • Use table comparisons with last period or last year to quickly recognize developments.
