Overview

A segment is the central unit in BidX, where you can bundle and manage all relevant campaign elements. You define which campaigns, ad groups, keywords, ASINs, or portfolios belong to your segment and set up targeted bid management and keyword management for them. This allows you to implement campaign goals, brand focus, or specific structural areas separately—for greater control and clarity in your optimization.

Accessing the Function

You will find segments in Segment Management. From here, you can access your existing segments or create new ones.

What Exactly Are Segments?

A segment is a unit where you can add all elements influencing your advertising—like campaigns, portfolios, keywords, or ASINs—using multiple criteria. At the segment level, you can then set up bid management and keyword management rules for the included elements. This logic enables you to easily pursue highly specific marketing goals in a structured way.

Each segment shows you two main areas:

  • Bid Management: Contains all bid management automations and rules for adjusting bids.
  • Keyword Management: Contains all automations and rules for keyword harvesting.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Create separate segments for different campaign goals, for example, one for brand campaigns and another for generic campaigns.
  • Use descriptive segment names to help you and your team quickly keep track.

What Does “Incomplete Segment” Mean?

When you create a new segment, you may see the note "Incomplete Segment"—but what does this mean?

Answer

“Incomplete Segment” means that there is currently no active bid management or keyword management assigned to the segment. If there are no rules for the selected marketplace only, the message "No rules or automation for the selected marketplace" will appear. In this state, no automatic adjustments will be made. You will see a clear notice in the segment itself indicating it's not yet complete. Use the buttons Create New Bid Management and Create New Keyword Management to complete the segment with suitable rules—for all marketplaces or selectively for individual ones.

Accessing the Function

The “Incomplete Segment” message appears in the segments overview. It is shown directly on the segment card if no bid management or keyword management is active for that segment.

Settings & Options

To make a segment complete, you have the following options in the segment's info bar:

  • Create New Bid Management: Use this to set up new bid management that will adjust bids within the segment.
  • Create New Keyword Management: Here you can add a targeted keyword management rule for the segment.
  • New One Time Rule: With the one-time rule, you can create a rule that runs only once.

Limitations & Special Notes

  • If segments have no rules only for a filtered marketplace, you'll see the message “No rules or automation for the selected marketplace.”
  • Important: Without at least one suitable bid management or keyword management, no adjustments are made to the assigned campaigns of the segment.
