What Has Changed in Segment Management?

Segment Management has been fundamentally revamped. This article gives you an overview of the most important changes.

What Has Changed?

With the latest update, Segment Management has been structurally redesigned. Here are the main changes at a glance:

New Division into Bid Management and Keyword Management

Each segment is now clearly split into two areas:

  • Bid Management – includes all automations and rules that adjust bids.
  • Keyword Management – includes all automations and rules that control keyword harvesting.

This separation makes it easier to keep an overview and allows you to intervene specifically in either area. Bid Management and Keyword Management now operate independently of one another.

New Rule Types

The previous terms "Automation" and "individual rules" have been replaced by clearer names:

  • Bid Management Automation – fully automatic daily bid optimization based on a target value (ACOS, ROAS, or Total ACOS).
  • Individual Bid Management Rule – manual if-then logic for bid adjustments.
  • Keyword Management Automation – fully automatic daily keyword harvesting.
  • Individual Keyword Management Rule – manual if-then logic for keyword actions.
  • One Time Rule – a one-time rule for bid adjustments.

Keyword Management Settings Now at Segment Level

The global Keyword Management Settings section in Segment Management has been removed. The connection settings – such as ad types, match types, marketplaces, and campaign exclusions – are now configured directly within each Keyword Management Automation or Keyword Management Rule in the final step. Any exclusions you define there apply to all rules within the same segment.
