What Happens if a Campaign Exceeds Its Daily Budget and When Is It Reset?

The daily budget of an Amazon campaign sets the maximum daily spend. If it's used up, Amazon pauses the campaign until the next day.

Answer

The daily budget sets the average maximum amount your campaign can spend per calendar day. Once it's used up, Amazon automatically changes the campaign status to "Budget Depleted." The campaign is paused, and its ads will no longer be shown that day.

This behavior is the same for Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display: if the daily budget is exhausted, Amazon pauses the campaign, and it can't collect any more clicks until the budget is available again.

When Is the Campaign Reactivated and What Does This Mean for BidX?

The daily budget is reset at the start of the new day according to the marketplace's time zone. This means the marketplace time matters, not your local time. For example, a campaign on the US marketplace will get its new daily budget at a different time than one on the DE marketplace.

Since BidX synchronizes data with Amazon overnight—at a time when daily budgets have already been reset and campaigns are active again—the "Budget Depleted" status does not currently appear in the BidX dashboard. If you notice unusually low performance data for individual campaigns, it's worth checking the daily budget for each campaign.

Is the Budget Getting Depleted Too Quickly?

You can try to increase the budget or reallocate the budget from other campaigns that are not using their full budget. For many campaigns, Amazon also provides recommended budgets, which can serve as a good reference according to Amazon. Please note: a campaign with "Budget Depleted" status won't start delivering ads immediately after you increase the budget. When you adjust the budget, the change is sent to Amazon, and the campaign can use the new budget starting the next day.
