What Are Keyword Lists?

Keyword lists let you save groups of frequently used keywords so you can quickly reuse them when creating new campaigns. You can flexibly add keywords as positive or negative.

Answer

Keyword lists are predefined collections of keywords that you can use repeatedly. Each list has a unique name – for example, “Brand Shopping Positive” – and you enter the desired keywords as comma-separated values. When you create a campaign, you can select your saved lists and with one click add all contained keywords, either as Positive Keywords or Negative Keywords. For negative keywords, you can also choose the match type, such as Exact or Phrase. By using keyword lists, you significantly speed up the setup process.

Accessing the Function

You can manage keyword lists in the Segment Management section. Go to Segment Management and click the Settings icon. Then select Manage Keyword Lists.
When setting up a campaign in the Campaign Creator during the keywords step, you can access these lists and add them as positive or negative. Alternatively, you can click Create Keyword List here to make a new list.

Settings & Options

In the Manage Keyword Lists menu, you’ll see the Add Keyword Lists overview. Here’s what you can do:

  • Use the Search field to search for existing lists.
  • The table shows the Name of the list, the Number of Keywords, and allows you to Edit or Delete lists through the Actions column.
  • Click the Create Keyword List button to create a new list.

When creating or editing a list, enter the following details:

  • Name of the keyword list
  • In the input field, enter your keywords as comma-separated values, for example, “keyword1, keyword2, ...”
  • Finally, use the Save or Cancel buttons to save or reset your input.

During campaign creation, you decide whether to use the list as Positive or Negative. For negative lists, select the Match Type (Exact, Phrase). In the overview, tips on usage such as added as, Remove, or Add are shown directly next to the respective keywords.
