Is It Possible to Exclude Specific Campaigns, Keywords, or ASINs From a Segment?
With Segment Management, you can precisely control which campaigns, ad groups, targets, portfolios, tags, or ASINs are included in a segment, so your automations or rules only act on the items you want.
Answer
Currently, excluding specific elements is only possible based on campaign names. When creating a segment, you can add another condition row, such as "Campaign name does NOT contain …" to specifically exclude certain campaigns. The same logic also applies to ad group names and targeting (keywords and ASINs).
To exclude specific products (ASINs), there is currently only a workaround. You can achieve this via your campaign naming convention – if all campaign names contain the ASINs – or you can add a new condition row for each ASIN when creating the segment and leave out unwanted ASINs.
Accessing the Function
To create or edit a segment, go to Segment Management. There, click on Add Segment to create a new segment or Edit Segment to modify an existing one.
In the opened window, you'll find the following main areas:
- The option to choose between Match ALL of the below (all conditions must apply) and Match ANY of the below (at least one condition must apply).
- Apply to – Here you select which campaigns, ad groups, targets, portfolios, ASINs, tags, or all campaigns should be included in the segment.
- Segment size preview: See how many items are included in your segment.
Once your segment is set up correctly, click Update or the Save button. After confirmation, you’ll see your segment in the overview, and your automations or rules will automatically apply to the filtered items.
Limitations & Special Notes
- For ASINs, the system automatically checks validity: only ten-character, properly formatted ASINs are accepted.
- The "Does NOT contain" or "Is NOT" option is only available for campaign names, ad group names, and targeting.
Tips & Best Practices
- Start with just a few conditions and expand your segment with exclusions ("Does NOT contain," "Is NOT") to get the right results.
- Consistent naming conventions for campaigns or ad groups help you use filters like "Contains" or "Starts with" more efficiently.
- Always check the preview before saving your segment – this helps you see early on whether your exclusions are correct and make sense.
