Overview
You can change the date range of a single chart either permanently directly within the chart, or temporarily using the dashboard-wide temporary date filter. A permanent change affects only the selected chart and remains even after reloading the dashboard. Temporary changes apply to all charts on the current page and last until you leave the page or reset the filter.
Accessing the Function
To make a permanent adjustment, open the Actions menu in the top right corner of the desired chart and select Configure. In the Configure Chart section, you'll find the Date Range setting.
If you want to temporarily change the date range for all charts, go to the bar labeled Temporary: at the top of the dashboard and click Date. Here, you can set a temporary date filter.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Open the Chart and Select "Actions"
Hover over the chart you want and click the Actions button in its header. In the context menu, select Configure to open the settings, where you can set the Date Range. This change is permanent for this chart only. If you only have read access, Configure may not be available – use the temporary Date filter at the top of the dashboard instead.
Step 2: Set the Date Range in the Chart: Adjust Period Permanently
Within the opened chart configuration, click Date Range. A dropdown menu will appear with presets such as "Yesterday," "Current Week," "Last Month," or Custom Range. Selecting a preset automatically updates the chart. For a custom range, pick a start and end date from the calendar – perfect for specific campaign periods or quarterly analyses. In some reports, there's also a Reporting Period option that matches the official Amazon reporting period. This may require a Subscription Date to be set. After making your selection, click Save to apply the change.
Ongoing ranges such as "Current Month" will automatically extend as the month progresses. For the Reporting Period, data is usually only fully available at the end of the period.
Step 3: Apply Changes
Save your choice by clicking the Save button. The chart will refresh to show data for your selected date range. Depending on the chart type, a Comparison Period may be displayed as well – a note about this appears in the chart header if configured.
Alternative: Temporarily Change for All Charts
If you want to quickly switch dates for all charts (for example, to test a hypothesis), use the Temporary: group at the top of the dashboard and click Date. A window opens where you can select the same presets and custom ranges as in the individual chart configuration. By clicking Save, you apply the new date range to all charts on the dashboard. This selection remains until you reload the page or reset the filter. Use Reset to return to the original state.
Settings & Options
- Date Range: Permanent, chart-specific setting for each diagram.
- Temporary: Date: Dashboard-wide temporary filter, which can be removed via Reset.
Limitations & Special Notes
- If you only have read access, you cannot permanently change the chart's date range. Use the temporary filter instead.
- For newly connected accounts or very recent campaigns, some charts may display empty until data becomes available.
- Selecting very large time periods can slow down loading times, especially for table charts.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use ongoing ranges like Current Month or Current Week for continuous analysis.
- For fair comparisons, select Last Month or Previous Week.
- For specific campaign or promotion analysis, the Custom Range setting in the chart is ideal.
- If you want to test hypotheses, use the temporary Date filter – this way your chart configuration remains unchanged.
