Overview
Connecting your Amazon account for the Selling Partner API in BidX is a two-step process. First, link your Amazon account (Seller Central or Vendor Central) to access advertising data. Then connect the Selling Partner API to access organic data. You can select your desired region and account type, and manage existing connections as needed.
Accessing the Function
You can set up the connection in Account Settings under Amazon Connection. Here you’ll find an overview and all required steps to set up and manage the SP-API integration.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Choose Region
Go to Account Settings > Amazon Connection. Select your desired region: Europe & India, North America, or Far East. Depending on the region, only the available accounts for that area will show. Not all regions are available for every account.
Step 2: Connect Amazon Account
Under either the Seller Central or Vendor Central logos, click the Login with Amazon button to start the Amazon sign-in process for the selected account. After successful sign-in, you’ll see a CONNECTED status and the notice Your account is connected. You can disconnect by clicking Unlink. Use Edit Marketplaces to choose which marketplaces your account should be connected to. See more in this article.
Step 3.1: Connect Selling Partner (Seller)
In the Selling Partner (Seller) section, choose the desired seller account from the Select an account dropdown. You’ll then be redirected to Amazon to authorize access to your organic data. When the connection is successful, CONNECTED and the account name will appear. Use Unlink to disconnect the SP-API connection if needed.
If no seller account is linked, this section won’t appear. In this case, connect your Seller Central account first (see Step 2).
Step 3.2: Connect Selling Partner (Vendor)
The process for vendor accounts is the same. In the Selling Partner (Vendor) section, select a vendor account and proceed to Amazon to authorize SP-API access. Once you've authorized, CONNECTED with the vendor name will be shown. Unlink is available to disconnect as well.
If there is no vendor account, this section is hidden. Connect your Vendor Central account first if needed.
Step 4: Check SP-API Functionality
Once the SP-API connection is active, check the status messages for connected areas. If CONNECTED is displayed, organic data will be retrieved and shown in BidX. If there’s an error or if authorization failed, you'll see a status message, such as "unknown error" or "Authorization was successful."
Step 5: Manage Connections
To remove an existing connection, click Unlink in the relevant section. A confirmation dialog will appear. The connection will only be removed after your confirmation. If you want to adjust your data coverage, use Edit Marketplaces to select or update which marketplaces are linked to your account.
Note that certain actions, such as Unlink, may not always be available depending on your user role.
Settings & Options
In Account Settings under Amazon Connection, you can view and manage all your Amazon and SP-API connections. In the Integrations menu, you can add third-party services, but for Selling Partner API, no other integrations are required.
Limitations & Special Notes
- Connection is region-specific. Always check you’re working in the correct region before setting up a connection.
- Amazon authorization opens a new window. Please make sure pop-up blockers are disabled.
- The CONNECTED status and account name help you quickly see which accounts are currently linked.
- If no seller or vendor account is linked, the relevant SP-API section will not be shown.
- Amazon connections must be renewed every two years. If expired, you won’t see data in your dashboards and must disconnect and reconnect your account.
Tips & Best Practices
- Connect your Seller or Vendor Central account first before setting up the Selling Partner API to ensure your available accounts appear in the selection.
- Keep your connections up to date: if a connection is removed, check that all essential functions are still working as needed.
