Overview

Segments allow you to group campaigns, ad groups, keywords, ASINs, portfolios, foci, and products based on your own criteria. When editing a segment, you can change its name, adjust the selection criteria, and control whether the segment is impacted by an automation or an individual rule.

Accessing the Function

To edit a segment, go to Segment Management from the main navigation. For each segment, you'll find an action menu (⋮) on the right. This menu offers options such as Edit Segment, view Segment Performance, create a new automation or rule, or delete the segment.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Segment Action Menu

To start editing, select the desired segment in Segment Management and click the ⋮ icon. The action menu appears with these options: Edit Segment, Segment Performance, New Automation, New Rule, New One-time Rule, and Delete Segment. Click Edit Segment to open the editing dialog.

Step 2: Edit the Segment

After choosing Edit Segment, the Update Segment dialog appears. At the top, you'll find the segment name field, which you can easily edit. Key settings include:

  • Segment Title Field: Set the segment's name here.
  • Applies To: Select Match ALL if all conditions must be met for an entry to be included. Choose Match ANY if just one of the conditions is enough.
  • Adjust criteria by adding or removing them. You can choose from various condition types, such as "Campaign," "Ad Group," "Keyword," "ASIN," "Portfolio," "Focus," "Target," or "All." Depending on your choice, you'll get suitable comparison operators and values to use.
  • Segment Size Preview: At the bottom, see a preview of how many entries currently match your conditions (up to “500+”).
  • Save: Click Update to save your changes. A confirmation message "successfully updated" will appear and you’ll have the option to jump straight to the segment.

If your changes leave the segment empty, you'll see a notification in the segment header. Often, you'll get tips for reconnecting the segment to actions via new automations or rules.

Settings & Options

In addition to directly editing segments, you can also delete segments or analyze their performance.

Limitations & Special Notes

  • The Segment Performance dashboard is only available if the segment has meaningful performance data.
  • Changes can only be saved if the segment name is valid and at least one valid condition is set.
  • The handling of automations and rules may differ depending on the selected marketplace or profile.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Start with a few, clearly defined conditions. Use Match ALL for precise segments and Match ANY for broader reach.
  • After making changes, regularly review Segment Performance to monitor any impact.
  • Use individual rules for one-time, specific adjustments and automations for ongoing optimization within the segment.
  • Always give segments meaningful and unique names so you and your team can quickly find them in daily workflows.
