Overview
The order of your segments determines which segment takes priority when there are overlaps: the segment at the very top of the list has the highest priority. If a campaign matches multiple segments, the rule for the higher-priority segment applies first. Lower-priority segments will then not be considered for this campaign. Changing the order allows you to directly control how your segmentations affect your automations. Rearranging segments is simple using drag-and-drop.
Accessing the Function
To edit the order of your segments, navigate to Segment Management. Here, you'll see an overview of all existing segments, and you can adjust their order using a dedicated function.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Open Prioritization Mode
Click the settings icon at the top right and select Edit Prioritization from the dropdown menu. This switches you to the mode in which you can reorder the segment list via drag-and-drop. If no segments exist yet, you’ll see a notice about this; you can only set the order after creating segments. If no marketplace profile is active yet, prioritization won’t appear – the function becomes available once you add such a profile.
Step 2: Rearrange Segments Using Drag-and-Drop
Click on the segment you want to move, hold down the mouse button, and drag it to your desired position in the list. Once you release the segment, the new order is saved and immediately active. Segments higher up have higher priority. A success message confirms the successful change. If you see an error, refresh the page and try again.
Step 3: Exit Prioritization Mode
Once you’ve adjusted your segment order, you can leave prioritization mode by clicking Back to Overview at the top right. This will return you to the standard segments overview.
Settings & Options
You can only change the order within the Edit Prioritization mode in Segment Management. No additional settings or global options are needed. The change is automatically saved and applied as soon as you move a segment.
Limitations & Special Notes
- Prioritization mode is only available when at least one profile (e.g., marketplace) and one segment exist.
- Changes are saved and applied instantly.
- Higher-priority segments always take precedence. Adjustments in higher-priority segments are never overridden by those with lower priority.
- After each successful change, you’ll see a confirmation. If there’s an error, refresh the page and try again.
Tips & Best Practices
- Place segments with your main, strategic automations at the top to maintain maximum control.
- Keep experimental or temporary segments lower down the list to prevent unwanted interactions.
- Make changes to the order thoughtfully and step by step. Review the outcomes after each change before making further adjustments.
- Use clear, descriptive segment names so all team members can easily understand their purpose and priority.
