Overview
Temporary filters apply to the entire dashboard and affect all charts at once. You can either limit the period with the Date option or use the Filter button to set different criteria, for example Marketplace, ASIN, Campaign, Ad Group, Portfolio, Tag, Ad Format, Search Term, Keyword, Amazon Profile, Walmart Product, or Segment. All settings you make are valid only for your current session and are not saved. This way, your original dashboard and chart configurations remain unchanged.
By default, the date is set to Last 30 days.
Accessing the Function
You will find temporary filters in the Dashboard section. At the top of the dashboard, you have two buttons: Date and Filter.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Open the Dashboard
Start by selecting the desired Dashboard from the main menu. You can access analysis features using the Date and Filter buttons. Click Date or use the shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + D to set a time period temporarily. Filter (click or Cmd/Ctrl + F) lets you further define criteria and globally filter all charts. When switching between dashboards, the buttons may be briefly inactive. The filter function is not available on AMC dashboards.
Step 2: Set a Temporary Date Range
Click Date or use Cmd/Ctrl + D. In the dialog Temporary Date Range, you can pick a preset period such as Yesterday, Current Month, Last 30 Days, and many more, or use Custom Range to select any time span on the calendar. The selected date range will apply to all data and charts in the dashboard.
Click Save to apply the selected range. Reset lets you revert to the previous range and Cancel closes the dialog without making changes.
Step 3: Apply Temporary Filters
Click the Filter button or press Cmd/Ctrl + F to open the Temporary Filter window. Here, you can create one or more filter rows, for example for Marketplace, ASIN, Tag, or Keyword. Use '+' to add filter conditions and '–' to remove them. Filter options will only show valid values based on the currently loaded data.
Each combination of filters will further narrow down dashboard results. For products, a preview and the number of filtered results will be shown. Save applies your chosen filters, Remove All Filters deletes all active filters at once, and Cancel closes the window without any changes.
Note: In certain views (for example, AMC dashboards), Filter is not available, and in Walmart views, the product preview may not be shown.
Step 4: Check Results and Remove Filters: Transparency and Control
You can see if and how many temporary filters are active by checking the display next to the Filter button and the label on the Date button. The filter display shows the number of active filters; for 10 or more, "9+" is shown. Using Remove All Filters (Filter) or Reset (Date) lets you clear all temporary filters and date ranges at once, returning the dashboard to its original data view.
Settings & Options
Handy keyboard shortcuts help make your workflow more efficient:
- Cmd/Ctrl + D: Opens the date filter directly
- Cmd/Ctrl + F: Opens the filter dialog window directly
Limitations & Special Notes
- The filter button is inactive on AMC dashboards, and the date picker can also be restricted there.
- Any changes made using Date or Filter are purely temporary: No permanent settings are saved in any charts or dashboards.
- Depending on data volume and selected date range, longer loading times may occur.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use presets like Last 30 Days or Current Month to quickly spot current trends.
- Combine the date function with one or two targeted filters (e.g., Marketplace and ASIN) for precise analysis.
- Use Remove All Filters and Reset to return to the starting point in just a few clicks.
