Overview
Sharing ad segments allows you to distribute multiple existing segments, including automations and individual rules, to selected subaccounts at once. This helps you quickly create unified setups and ensures that your clients are always working with the latest segments. Optionally, you can choose to delete all current ad segments in the target accounts before sharing, so you start with a completely fresh setup. This feature is designed for admins who centrally manage many clients or subaccounts.
Accessing the Function
To share ad segments, first navigate to Management and then to Segment Management. Click the gear icon Settings in the top right. In the menu that opens, you’ll find the entry Share Segments. This menu item is available to admins only.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Select Ad Segments
After opening Share Segments, select the segments you want to share. The Ad Segments list displays all segments currently in your account. Using the Select Segments field, you can mark multiple segments at once. Use the Search Field (Search...) to filter the list if needed. If there are no suitable segments, "No results" is shown and the Share button remains inactive.
Example: If you created a new segment for "Summer Promotions," select it so it's available in the chosen subaccounts.
Step 2: Select Target Subaccounts
Next, choose the subaccounts or clients who should receive the selected segments. In the Select Clients field, a list appears with all eligible subaccounts with segment management enabled. You can also use the Search to filter for specific clients. The clients' email addresses are displayed. Select all subaccounts that should get the segment(s).
Example: Select "kunde.max@agentur.de" and "kunde.lisa@agentur.de" if you want these two to receive your new ad segments.
If there are no eligible target accounts, the selection will be empty and you can close the dialog.
(Optional) Step 3: Delete Existing Segments in Target Accounts
You have the option to delete all existing ad segments in the selected target accounts before sharing. To do this, enable the Delete All Ad Segments in Subaccounts checkbox in the Delete Segments section. This is useful if you want to establish a unified setup and avoid leftovers.
Note: This deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Example: Use this option if you regularly set new standards across clients and want to completely remove outdated segments.
Step 4: Start and Confirm Sharing
Finally, review your selection. Click Cancel to close the dialog without making changes. Click Share to start the copying process. The Share button will only be active if at least one segment and one client are selected. If you selected the delete option, all ad segments in the target accounts will be removed before the new ones are shared. After starting, the dialog will close; note that this process may take some time, especially with many accounts or segments.
Settings & Options
- The Share Segments menu item is only visible to admins.
- Only subaccounts with segment management enabled will appear for sharing. Other accounts remain hidden.
- With Delete All Segments in Subaccounts, you can keep all accounts up-to-date with a clean and uniform setup.
Limitations & Special Notes
- Currently, you can only share ad segments – not other structures or elements.
- If you enable the delete option, all previous ad segments in the target account will be permanently removed.
- If you’re sharing a large number of segments with many subaccounts, the process may take several minutes.
Tips & Best Practices
- Skip the delete option if you only want to share selected segments and wish to keep existing setups in the target accounts.
- Use the Search Field in both selection areas to find the right segments or clients quickly – this is especially helpful with long lists.
- Test this feature with a few target accounts first to ensure sharing works as you expect before rolling it out broadly.
- Use consistent names for your segments so you can find them more easily in larger lists.
