Can I Review the Keyword Management Structure?
Keyword Management lets you centrally control search terms, match types, and bid adjustments with ease.
Answer
Yes, you can review the keyword management structure at any time. When setting up rules or automations, you can use the Edit Default Settings button in the final step to get an overview of all existing keyword management rules. This overview shows you from which source to which destination a keyword is being moved (shown as "Move from" and "Move to"). You can also instantly see which match types (such as "Positive", "Neg. Exact", "Neg. Phrase", "Neg. ASIN") are affected and whether any bid changes are being made. Optionally, you can activate the so-called Broad Match Modifier for SP and SB keyword creation.
This means that in every rule and automation, you can immediately see how keywords are being transferred, for example, from Auto, Category, or Product/ASIN campaigns into Broad, Phrase, or Exact, and whether bids are being set, increased, or decreased.
With the Reset to Default Settings function, you can undo all your changes and revert to the recommended structure.
Accessing the Function
You’ll find Keyword Management within Segment Management inside a segment, under each specific rule or automation. Expand the segment and open the rule or automation settings by clicking the three dots on the right. Then select Edit Individual Rule or Edit Automation and go to the last page of the popup window. Use the Edit Default Settings button to access the current settings.
Settings & Options
By clicking the Edit Default Settings button, you open the configuration options. With Reset to Default Settings, you restore the standard rules. You can enable or disable the Broad Match Modifier at any time.
For each rule, you can choose exactly which source the keyword will be moved from and to which destination (for example, from Auto to Broad or Phrase). The match type selection allows you to specifically assign Positive, Neg. Exact, Neg. Phrase, or Neg. ASIN, depending on your combination. You can set the bid adjustment individually: available options are No Change, Increase Bid, Decrease Bid, Set Bid, or percentage adjustments. You can set the new bid based on the current CPC or multiply the CPC. Choose your unit either as a percentage or in euros.
Limitations & Special Notes
- Not every combination of source and destination is possible for every match type setting. For example, "Neg. ASIN" is only available for certain steps.
- If there is no rule defined, you’ll receive an appropriate error message.
- Changes are always saved in bulk, so for more complex rules, updates may take a short pause to display.
Tips & Best Practices
- Start with the default rules when using the tool for the first time and adjust them step by step to fit your strategy.
- Always use Positive with a planned bid adjustment. Otherwise, it’s best to select No Change.
- Regularly check the adjustment logs to track the impact of your rules.
- Keep the number of rules manageable: small, clearly defined steps make maintenance and monitoring much easier.
