Overview
Deleting a dashboard permanently removes the entire view and all its included elements from your overview. After deletion, you are automatically redirected to the next available dashboard or, if there are none left, to an empty state.
Accessing the Function
You can access the delete function directly in the Dashboard section via the main menu. Select the specific dashboard you want to delete and manage it. Click on the dashboard you want to remove, then open the menu via the three dots in the upper right. Here, you can select Delete.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Select Dashboard
First, choose the dashboard you wish to delete from the Dashboard Dropdown. You may see various badges like DSP, AMC, or Walmart if available. Once selected, the dashboard is loaded.
Step 2: Open Action Menu
To access further actions, click the Menu Icon (three dots) on the selected dashboard. Alternatively, you can right-click the dashboard area to open the same menu.
Step 3: Start Deleting
In the opened menu, select Delete to start the deletion process. Note that this option appears greyed out if you do not have editing rights or if the dashboard is in Edit Layout Mode.
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
A confirmation dialog appears with the message: "Are you sure you want to delete the dashboard '{name}'?" Check carefully that it is the correct dashboard. By confirming, the dashboard is deleted and disappears from your list. Clicking Cancel will stop the process.
After successful deletion, you are automatically redirected to the next or previous dashboard. If there is only one dashboard, you will then see an empty state with the message: "There are currently no dashboards" and the button "Create New Dashboard".
Optional: Exit Layout Mode
If Layout Mode ("Edit Layout") is active, the delete function is unavailable. Exit this mode by clicking Save to apply changes or Cancel to discard them. The delete option will then become available again in the action menu.
Settings & Options
The action menu offers other useful features besides deleting:
- Dashboard Settings: Change the dashboard's name, currency, or display options.
- Duplicate: Create a copy for further use.
- Export: Save a version of your dashboard, for example, for reports.
- Manage Templates: Manage and use different dashboard templates.
- Global Targets: Set targets that are displayed in your charts.
Limitations & Special Notes
- As long as Layout Mode is active, the Delete option does not appear in the menu.
- The special AMC Dashboard (Request) is excluded and cannot be deleted.
- After deletion, you will always be redirected to the next or previous dashboard, or to an empty state if only one existed.
- You can access the delete function via the action menu (three dots) or the context menu with a right-click on the dashboard.
Tips & Best Practices
- Before permanently deleting a dashboard, use the Duplicate feature if you want to keep its structure or settings as a template.
- If you want to archive a version, click Export first.
- In the confirmation dialog, carefully check the dashboard name to avoid accidental deletions.
- Regularly remove outdated or unused dashboards to keep your overview tidy.
