Overview

Segments help you group campaigns according to your custom criteria. Inside a segment, you can create multiple bid management rules, keyword management rules, and one-time rules. For each segment – and therefore for each campaign – there is no limit to the number of rules you can create within their segments. It's important to note the order in which rules are executed: All rules in a segment are applied strictly from top to bottom. This way, you can set priorities and avoid conflicts between different adjustments.

Accessing the Function

You can find Segment Management directly in the main menu. Within each segment card, the action menu () provides the New Keyword Management, New Bid Management, and New One-Time Rule options. To set priorities, choose Edit Prioritization. You can change the order of the individual rules simply by dragging and dropping within a segment.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the Segment

First, open the desired segment in Segment Management by expanding it. In the overview, you will see all created bid management rules, keyword management rules, and one-time rules. Each rule can be opened individually to view or edit its details. The order in the list determines which is executed first.

Step 2: Change the Order

To change the order of your rules in a segment, use drag and drop to move the entries to your preferred position. Items at the top are executed with the highest priority.

Step 3: Prioritize Segments Globally

If multiple segments affect the same campaign, set up the global segment order in Segment Management via the gear icon under Settings and Edit Prioritization.

Limitations & Special Notes

  • Within a segment, the order of rules is always strictly from top to bottom – but only within their own category (bid management or keyword management).
  • Bid management and keyword management run independently. This means that even if several rules from both categories apply to the same campaign, their execution orders won’t interfere with each other. Each category prioritizes its entries independently.
  • Segment prioritization always applies when multiple segments are linked to the same campaigns.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Arrange individual rules deliberately: Place important bid management automations higher up, and more specific rules below them.
  • Regularly check the segment prioritization, especially when new segments are added.
